Lookin' Up

Life is going so much better this week!
I am happy to announce that I have officially been accepted and am in the BFA Photography program at UVU!  Such a relief!
I am so happy that the application process is over, but know that I still have a lot of hard work and learning ahead of me until graduation!

This is one of my favorite images and the one in my portfolio that my professors were "gushing" over, so I was told.  That sure makes me feel good!
I love the light, the composition and the emotion it captures of being a child.

I also got all my test results back this week and the tilt table test was the only one that came back abnormal.  It seems that I am having episodes of low blood pressure when my heart starts pumping fast, but really isn't moving any blood.  So I am starting blood pressure medication with a diet of fluids and salt to get my heart to pump enough blood to get my pressure up by ten points.
I can still drive!!

Spring Break

We started spring break off right with the first camping trip of the season!!  There was frost on everything when we woke up, but Kyle kept me warm as a bug :)
We decided last minute to go down to the hot spring and it was just what I needed.

At our home on Monday, we hosted FHE for our singles ward for the first time, so I made homemade apple pies with the apple filling my grandma gives us with the rest of their yummy, canned, garden food!  Perfect timing that my first time making pies just happened to be the same week as pi day!  I was so happy to finally have some time to cook!

Over the weekend we ran down to Capitol Reef!  Dad got to see the pioneer register and check another thing off his bucket list. :)

This rock makes me miss Lake Powell and touring the canyons in our boat.
Gorgeous red rocks and the best of memories to go with them.

This was probably the last time we were at Capitol Reef in 2000.  The curly tree now is just a fenced off stick in the ground!  Hopefully it comes back to life cause we loved pretending to be Tarzan on those vines!

Other than that I am trying to do some positive thinking in the face of so much uncertainty right now.
A lot can get you down, but I am trying to apply some Atonement and learn some forgiveness, but man is that harder than it seems.

"Life becomes easier when you learn to accept an apology that you never got."

True it would be easier, how exactly does one go about accepting it?  I would love to know.
I am just grateful for an amazing husband and family to support me and lift me up.
How great is family?!

I learned in church today that the Lord will determine the success of families by the quality of their relationships.  It's all about time and experiences.
President Spencer W. Kimball talked about how important it is to cultivate close extended family relationships.  "We can do things with extended family members that will become some of our choicest memories and we have a responsibility to help our extended family members and should know their needs so we can assist when necessary...Children should be encouraged to know their relatives."
I definitely have a testimony of this and am grateful for some of my most favorite memories being with my extended family!
How can we lift and strengthen our families when we don't even know them or their needs?
My best friends have become my family and even though I will soon have my own family it doesn't mean that the extended relationships end (or any of my friendships for that matter).
Being married and having 3 sides of family now can make scheduling time hard, but just like I want to be with my family, I know Kyle wants to be with his too and because of that I have grown to love being with them just as much as my own family.
Marriage is about compromise and a little sacrifice to put your spouses happiness above your own, knowing that they will be doing the same for you.  We all know about the Golden Rule, just apply what makes you happy to those you love.
It is immature and selfish to think that your way and your family is the only right way.  Being married is such a blessing because you combine the best of each of your experiences to make the best future possible.
I love that my marriage is about both of us being happy, because of that we are :)

Ironies of Life

All those years that I was never a fan of cops lead to me marrying one and now all the years of not liking doctors has lead me to seven visits to a doctor in the last month.  I mean really, how often is it not just a guessing game?!

I have had an EEG, met with a neurologist who sent me to have a brain MRI, a tilt table test and 24 holter put on.
If after all of this I am told that I can't drive anymore I will seriously go into a depression.  My life can't handle not being able to drive, I have scheduled myself to tight to have time to ride the bus.
I go to school then to work then back to school again and have to go check out the 4x5, go take photographs and take it back to develop film and print pictures and cut matte boards and print prints for my 3 other classes then drive to provo for church on Sunday etc…

Everything else is going right though, 2 1/2 years of saving and in 175 days Kyle will be on a flight to New York to board the Norwegian Gem for 7 days!!
All my dreams are coming true!!
I am definitely a believer in spending money to make memories and not on things.  And by golly will some amazing memories be made!  We haven't gone anywhere since our 1st anniversary so it will be a much needed and wonderful vacation!
10 whole days of being with Kyle! Dang, I am one lucky girl. No work, school or homework in sight.
