Kasen's Birthday

Wednesday June 17, 2015
One of the longest, but BEST days ever!
At 41wks I had an induction scheduled for 4am that morning.  I was going to have my membrane stripped on Monday, but we decided against it so Kyle could speak at his Grandpa's funeral on Tuesday.
A few hours before we were supposed to be at the hospital I started having contractions that actually were hurting so I was in labor by the time we got to the hospital.  I guess the 17th was meant to be!
They still started me on Pitocin and a little before 7am I got an epidural.  I wouldn't mind trying a natural birth sometime, but not when he was a week late and measuring 2 weeks ahead in size!
Around 9am Dr. Heath came in to break my water and I started pushing not long after that.
I pushed for 3 hours before my doctor came in and told us that my options were to either have a C-section or they had one chance to try using the vacuum to help him out.
I chose the vacuum! I did NOT want to have a C-section!  Even though I was SO tired!  My whole body had been shaking since we got to the hospital and I felt like I couldn't even keep my eyes open.
Before I started pushing again I threw up twice then came the episiotomy, but 30 minutes later baby Kasen was born at 12:29pm!

Kyle had told me he was not cutting the cord during my entire pregnancy and during my entire pregnancy I told him that he had to!
In the end he did cut the cord and told me that he was happy that he did :)
His poor little head :( It went back to normal pretty quick though.

Kasen was 9 pounds and 9 ounces! 20.5 inches long and perfect.
Although he did not have nearly enough hair for the amount of heartburn I had!
I don't understand how anyone that has given birth to a baby could deny that God exists.
My body grew a human- that is a miracle!
I threw up twice more after he was born.  I was exhausted! Before that day the thought had never crossed my mind about how sore my stomach would be after pushing a baby out! So sore!
Not fun when I had a cough either :(

I LOVE how much Kyle loves him! He takes such good care of him and has definitely changed more diapers than I have.
Kasen is so alert and strong!  He already lifts up his head and smiles a lot.
The first few nights were rough, I don't think he slept at all, but now he sleeps a good 5 hours at night so I only have to wake up once to feed him.

We had lots of visitors that day along with a birthday cake!  Such a special day for us :)
We only stayed in the hospital for 24 hours, by 2pm the next day we were on our way home!

3 days after he was born we drove up to Ogden for my mom Tammy's surprise 50th birthday, Josh's mission homecoming, and a BBQ with Kyle's family on Monday.
Sunday was the first day since November 2009 that we have all been together! Everyone is finally home from their missions!
That weekend was also Kyle's first Father's Day, barely made the cut this year!
He has been so wonderful and willing to help with EVERYTHING! I love him so much.
It has been an adjustment, but as Kyle told me, having Kasen is the best decision we have made!
I even lost 30 pounds this last week so that is always a good feeling too :)

Bye Bye Due Date

And bye to picking Josh up from his mission at the airport tomorrow :( It's only been 6 years since we've all been together...
Man do I hate missing out on family fun.  It's so important to me to make it to the big stuff.  I've been to nearly all the drop offs, pick ups, setting aparts, releasings, farewell and homecoming talks! (Except picking up Kyle and dropping Jake off)

We had our last appointment this morning, 40 weeks today!
My doctor told me he would strip my membranes this week.  He wouldn't do it last week because he was going to be out of town last weekend and today he wouldn't do it again because again he is going to be out of town this weekend, which is more important than any plans I had...
So I have an appointment to get my membrane stripped next Monday and an induction scheduled for June 17th at 4am.  I was really hoping to have more time to recover before all our summer plans, but I guess he could still come before next week.  I'm still dilated 4cm.
I am just crossing my fingers and learning a lot of patience for things outside of my control!
We did go on a long walk last night and Kyle pushed me on the swings, but all that did was give me a sore throat :(

This was 2 weeks ago, completely ready to have Kasen!  I am getting so bored just waiting for him to be born.  It's been the hardest part of pregnancy because I am a person that needs a plan! Not knowing when he will come is the worst thing for me.  I am just in this limbo not being able to go anywhere or do anything- missing out on life.
It is so weird to think that I have a human inside me- now completely capable and ready to live outside, but he is just in there, a full grown baby, kicking all day every day.

Kyle did take me swimming last week, which made me so happy! I wasn't super impressed with the cedar city pool since the deepest part of it is 3ft, but we did go swim in the lane lines until they kicked us out.  It wasn't until I tried pulling myself out of the pool that I really felt the 46 lbs. that I have gained!
A man there asked if I am having twins… I am not that big!
And a few weeks ago at Walmart a lady said, "Should you even be out?!"

We were able to make it to the St. George temple for our June temple trip though too! We just did some quick initiatories since my dress is unlikely to fit! I'm so nervous to go anywhere without Kyle now though cause I don't want my water to break or something and be surrounded by strangers!
