SIX Sisters

We just completed the 8 week SIX Sisters Health Challenge again! I think this is the 3rd time I've done it? This time Kristi, Jake, Emma and Mike did it with me and Kyle. I just love that it's not a diet. It's pretty much encouraging eating fruits and vegetables daily and exercising, which is much healthier than dieting (meaning restricting food, food groups or calories), in my opinion.

I hadn't run for a year, but by the end of November I was able to run 5K again without stopping and then went from being able to run it in 37 minutes to 31 minutes! I also lost 8% of my body weight and ended up winning the $50 from that part of the health challenge. I've also been working on push ups and have worked up to 3 sets of 15.
Kyle is a beast too. He's been working hard to be able to run 1.5 miles in just 11:30 minutes! He would come home from a 12 hour shift and still work out almost every day. For weeks he also cut out all sugar. No idea how he does it cause I always need my one sugar day. Or 2. Kyle won the other $50 for having the highest total weekly points earned during the health challenge.

I love how Kasen and Tai have been interested in being healthy too. They want to work out with us and ask us about which foods are healthy for their bodies and then are excited to eat them.
Tai has been my smoothie buddy. Kasen and Kyle don't really like them, but Tai is all about them! One day she drank so much smoothie that she threw it all up in the car though...

Other than that, we tie dyed the shirts that Kasen and Tai got for Christmas. Tai wanted stripes and Kasen wanted the spiral design. We didn't quite get the spiral we were hoping for, but it still worked out.
I play Tai's matching games with her a couple times a week and am always super impressed with how in the world she remembers where so many matches are! 72 tiles and she remembers matches better than any of the rest of us.
And Kasen has officially earned his beanie baby at school for knowing all 100 of his sight words!! He is AWESOME. He got some books for Christmas and has been reading them to us with almost zero help. Blows my mind that he can read books to me.
He has another homework page each month to see how many of the letters and words he can say in 1 minute and he always gets all of them, but I love how excited he gets when he finally does all of them in less than 1 minute. "I'm a super star! It's jazzing me out! I'm on fire! I'm rocking it!"
He's also quite the trend setter cause a couple weeks after he fell and got staples in his head, Presley had to get 3 staples in the back of her head and then the next week Kallie split her head open too.
Hopefully that is the end of that.

Happy New Year!

This year we rang in the New Year at the Eason's house with some chocolate fountain and some Disney Code Names game (which Becca and I could not win for the life of us!)

But also, Kohen is 5 MONTHS old today!
He's been wearing socks on his hands for a few days straight because he will not stop scratching his face! Even though I cut his nails with his little baby nail clippers he still manages to have scratches everywhere because when he nurses or goes to sleep at night he scratches his head. It's his thing.
His poor head and cheeks are so dry and red, but I can never tell if the Aquaphor even helps.
Kasen and Tai sure love him though! Kasen's newest thing is that he wants to walk around while he holds Kohen. He's seen Emma's boys walk around with Keslee and now he's all about it. Still makes me nervous. But they both know just how to make him smile and laugh.
Today we fed Kohen rice cereal for the fist time too. At first we couldn't get him to even open his mouth for the spoon, but eventually he started to get what was going on and seemed happy about eating some food.
For Christmas I wanted to get Kohen something to hang on his walls so he'd have something colorful to look at and I found these super cute vinyl stickers for only $14. They are so stinkin cute. I love them! Perfect for him room.
He's also arrived at the toes phase! He's been rolling from his back to his tummy for almost a month now and loves his excited screaming sessions so that he can hear his voice, but his toes are where it's at.
Now that he's rolling I haven't been swaddling him to go to sleep and I feel like he wakes up more so hopefully starting cereal will help him sleep longer again.
Ugh he is just so yummy! I just want to squish him and squeeze him and kiss his face. So happy he's in our family.
