Summer Shade

Kyle finished his summer, backyard project just in time for Kasen's baptism and it looks fabulous! Now we have some shade in the backyard, since the tree we planted 4 years ago is still a stick.
We learned that if you have a ladder, it only takes 2 people to put this gazebo together, instead of the recommended 6-8 people.
And that cement dries faster than they hoped.
The kids got to put their handprints in the cement, but Kolt was a little too late to get a good footprint in there. We tried though!

2M Blessed

Baby Kolt is 2 months old and these smiles right here are the very first smiles I have ever seen from him!
My heart is melting!
This morning he had his follow up echocardiogram and there is no more hypertension in his heart. He still has a small hole in the top of his heart, but that doesn't always close up for 20% of people so nothing to worry about. No more follow ups necessary!
Tummy time! And he's holding his wobbly little head up so well.
He's getting blessed tomorrow during Kasen's baptism so he gets to be the last one to wear the outfit Grammy Tammy first made for Kasen.

June

It wouldn't be PG swim lessons if they weren't canceled multiple times. We got to go to 4 of the 9 classes last session though, including slide day! So that's all that really matters I guess.
We've also been going with friends to have free lunch at the school most days, then out to the playground to play for a little while. Kohen is a fan of lunch at school and asks to go every day. Even though he just wants the chocolate milk mostly.
We've also taken advantage of free Frazil Fridays this month at the gas station!
Before Kyle went back to work I got to go on a girls outing and we went hiking on Traverse Mountain and then to dinner. It was a good little start to get back into exercising.
Then last week Heidi and I took the kids on a hike to the Bear Canyon Suspension bridge! It was perfect for the kids. But I cannot believe how much that bridge swings!
That same day Lyndsey invited us to go swimming with the cousins at her pool. Super mom over here! I was a little nervous to let Kasen swim without any floaties, but he did pretty good. He had one moment of panic in the deep end so after that I told him to stay closer to the wall and he was fine. We just need to get Kohen to stop pushing Dakota in the water and trying to hold other kids. lol
This month we also went with Grammy to the Ogden Treehouse Children's Museum. Kohen spent most of his time playing with trains, but we did go to the puppet show. Kasen told us he didn't want to see a puppet show then later told us that that was his favorite part of going to the museum!
Kohen and Tai love doing airplanes with me, but they scare Kasen!

We also made it to the Saratoga Springs Temple open house one very blustery day! Kasen's favorite part was the baptismal font and Tai loved the "Celestial Kingdom". I loved being there with them.
It got me thinking about how having kids is quite the endeavor. They spill, they are loud, they make messes, they waste lots of food, they fight, brake things and don't always listen...
BUT man are they the best thing ever too. Their joy, love for life, and laughter are contagious. Their smiles, hilarious comments, and curiosity make life full and so worthwhile. I love watching them learn and grow, seeing their proud moments, milestones and unlimited potential. Experiencing life with them, through their eyes is magical. Their big hugs, I love you and honesty remind me what matters most.
THIS is my happy.
THIS is my why.
And I would never want it any other way! My family is everything I have ever wanted and everyday I am grateful they are mine. FOREVER.
Tai has been asking to try salt painting, that she saw in the Friend, so we gave it a try! She was very happy with how her picture turned out.
Kasen has been building a couple Minecraft lego things that he got for his birthday too.
Tai and I have been strep throat buddies this week. She had strep throat last summer and seems to keep getting sick the worst. It hasn't even been a month since her weekend of throwing up. She's asked me a couple times why Kasen never gets sick.

You might be a mom if, at 4:30am you've helped a toddler throw up then wiped his bum and put him back to bed WHILE nursing a baby WHILE having strep throat.
That might also be why Mother's Day seems like a bigger deal. Because during the worst day of strep throat I vacuumed, started a load of laundry, loaded the dishwasher, made dinner, weeded the garden, took kids to Dr. appointments, wiped more bums, etc. Moms don't get sick days. Especially when they are hosting a party in a few days. One day of antibiotics had us feeling much better already though.
Hoping for zero sickness in July!

Waterslide Bash and BBQs

Kasen is EIGHT! Happy Birthday Kasen!
I asked him what he wanted for his birthday breakfast and he wanted cinnamon rolls! So I tried making homemade cinnamon rolls for the first time ever.

I also asked Kasen what kind of birthday cake he wanted and he said he wanted chocolate with strawberry splotches on it. So I thought a chocolate cake with strawberry frosting, but let him know that he'd have a pink cake... Found out he was thinking strawberry would be red so I'm glad I clarified! I ended up asking him to draw me a picture cause I wasn't sure what he was wanting. I guess he wanted it to look like a monster had scratched the cake! So I let him be in charge of making it look like that. He also helped me make it and requested that we put lots of chocolate chips in it. He was so proud to tell all his friends that he didn't get any egg shells in the cake so anything crunchy in it would be the chocolate chips! He got a couple nice compliments on how yummy his cake was too.
"Danger monsters nearby"

Since we'll be celebrating his baptism in 2 more weeks I told him he could have a small friend party in the backyard on his birthday.
Camden, Declan, Curtis, Beckett and Cooper all came to play on the shark waterslide! First time we've been able to set it up and luckily the weather cooperated for his birthday party.
We had Monster Pops popsicles and it seemed like they all had a lot of fun. Minus Tai's sunburn...
Thank you Aunt Lyndsey for the Chess board! We also gave him the game Stratego and Kasen and Kyle played both of them all morning on Sunday!
Curtis gave Kasen a Minecraft pig,
Declan gave him a nerf gun, Camden gave him legos,
and Cooper and Beckett gave him a whoopee cushion and 2 water shooters,
Thank you everyone!

That night we went to a Father's Day BBQ at my dads house. I made some of Kasen's homemade Oreos and Kyle smoked tri-tip steak.
The next morning we made Kyle and big yummy breakfast and gave him the toolbox the kids made for him.
"My dad and I like to bake cookies. I love when my dad plays with us. My dad rocks, he is a police man. My dad is the best because he makes cookie kazookies. My dad is so fun."
And after church we went to dinner at Kelly's house. Grandpa gave him a Minecraft lego set and the Days gave him a water gun while we were there.
I love a good weekend of celebrating our favorite boys!
