The Puzzle
So last weekend Kyle and I decided to go buy a puzzle to do together. The only other time I have ever done a puzzle was during week 2 of quarantine, when I was really getting desperate. It was a 500 piece puzzle and it took about 5 hours. For some reason it sounded fun to do another one. So I bought a 2000 piece puzzle. Oh. My. Gosh. Never again with kids in the house! We started Saturday night and it took us every spare moment for FIVE days. Five days I had to keep Kohen away from the kitchen table. Whenever he'd get close enough he'd close his hand on a big chunk of it. Plus I have a super OCD personality so when I start something I have to finish it. I had to get the puzzle done! Luckily the sky pieces, that are all the exact same color, are Kyle's jam, cause I hate doing those ones. And Tai was sick all week so I literally didn't leave the house. I just sat and did the puzzle. Late Thursday night I realized that we were missing 3 pieces. I searched down the kitchen vent, that Kohen keeps taking the covers off of, and then found 2 under the couch, but could not find the last one! Do you know how severely unsatisfying it is, for an OCD person, to spend five days on a puzzle just to have one missing piece?! Well, after looking all over I went to get into the shower the next day and found the last puzzle piece in the SHOWER drain. All soggy of course. But found! I squeezed it dry and on day six was able to complete our 2000 piece puzzle, which I will never put together again. Especially since the pieces didn't even fit on our kitchen table to look at at the same time.
We bought Kasen and Tai a puzzle to work on while we worked on our puzzle. They finished it in less than 20 minutes! I was really hoping it would have taken them much longer...
I've been lucky enough to go on two temple dates this month! Kyle made us an appointment and we got to go do a session for the first time in over a year and a half! Tai had been asking me if we could go on a date, just me and her, for a while now too, so I put a date on the calendar! I asked her what she wanted to go do and she planned a picnic at the temple for us. With cheeseburgers. She also let me know that I needed to change before we left for our date cause my "candy corn" shirt wasn't good for our date. Haha
Yesterday we got to go help clean the church. Should have put Tai in her Cinderella dress instead of her Ana one. lol I love that we get opportunities to serve together as a family though and that our kids get to learn the value of helping out. Today was their primary program and we were laughing at how loud Kasen was singing "I am a Child of God". He had his part memorized too, "Joseph Smith was patient." They both decided that their favorite song in the program was Scripture Power and we sang it the whole way on our walk today.
I love the outfits Tai puts together. I LOVE her curly blonde hair, how she is always singing and rhyming and constantly telling me she loves me. I love how completely and colorfully she colors her pictures, her sweet prayers letting Heavenly Father she "really really really needs help to feel better." I love how she helps take care of Kohen and wants to come with me into his room at night to help sing to him. I love how well she cleans everything up when she gets in a cleaning mood too.
She is Kyle's daughter in that she loves taking medicine cause it tastes so good!
She's fantastic at sleeping in the car.
Kohen is 15 months old and is learning new things so fast that it's hard to keep up!
We went to his 15 month well check visit and asked them about the rash and white bumps he gets after eating sometimes. They said it may be a food allergy. But they aren't sure. They also thought he might have an ear infection. But they weren't sure. So they gave us antibiotics just in case and told us to give him probiotics while taking the antibiotics. 4 days later we were at the doctor again because Tai had had a fever with a sore throat and white spots on her tonsils. It's not strep, probably just some other virus. But they aren't sure... super helpful.
Kohen is so much fun right now though. I love how ticklish he is and how hard he laughs. He knocks on closed doors when he wants in and is a pro at the stairs. When he's not standing at the top throwing everything down them for fun. I love how happy he gets and lifts up his feet when I ask him to put his little baby socks and little baby shoes on his little baby feet. He's started to say words, well sounds, that make sense to us. "mom", "dada", "ma" for milk and "ba" for ball. We also realized that he knows where his nose is when we were asking him to help pick up Dominos and just kept touching his nose! He also knows where his ears, head and tongue are. He loves to spin around and march in place when we tell him to dance. I love how he holds onto the edge of my shirt when I change his diaper and how he tries to play peek-a-boo with his little hands trying to cover his eyes. I also love how when he's ready do get out of his high chair he holds as much food as he can in his hands and starts whining and twisting in his seat to get down, like I'm just going to let him wander around with all that food in his hands.
He is into EVERYTHING! The chairs for the table are now stored on top of the table cause he climbs and he loves unpacking every cupboard and drawer in the kitchen. But I do love that he can manage playing at the park by himself now though! When he hears the bedroom door open, he RUNS to see Kyle and cries anytime Kyle even walks downstairs or leaves for work.
He knows where the Halloween candy is and stands underneath it pumping his hands when he wants some.
Kasen is Kyle's kid cause he has no idea what it means to whisper. He is my kid cause at church he asked Kyle, "Are you thinking about Jesus right now or thinking about your phone?" Haha
I love how he is into complimenting people and how he prays for each of us in his prayers. I love his good morning hugs and how at night when he asks me to rub his back, he rubs my back too. I love that he reads to us at night and makes me laugh when he tells me that his tooth growing in is "enormous!" And instead of asking me questions about his testicles, was calling them cuticles. This week when we cut his hair with the clippers he kept asking Kyle not to "drive over" his scar or the mole on his head.
I FINALLY got to go volunteer in his classroom to read with the kids and was so impressed that Kasen was one of two kids in his class that gets to read an entire page instead of the few sentences everyone else reads in the same amount of time. He loves trading Pokemon cards at school.
The only thing that worries me is how often he tells me about the things he would do if he were a bad kid; like push Kohen in the fire, squirt all the frosting in his mouth, pull all those lights down or tear apart my puzzle... Thank goodness he doesn't choose to be a "bad kid." Should I be worried about the things he thinks about doing though?!
