New York to the Bahamas

Kyle and I booked a cruise back on March 8th.  My dream vacation.
But since he started a new job in Cedar City he wasn't able to come with me anymore.
Lucky for us my mom was able to come with me instead so we didn't lose ALL our money, just his plane ticket :)

We flew into JFK Friday morning (August 29th) and after a long nap we headed down to see the 911 Memorial and the new Freedom Tower.  We didn't go in the museum, but walked down to Battery Park to see the Statue of Liberty.  I like the two giant water falls they built in the footprints of where the Twin Towers stood.

Saturday we boarded the Norwegian Gem to set sail on our adventure!

Our first stop was Port Canaveral in Florida.  We went and toured Kennedy Space Center where I learned that there are a total of 12 astronauts that have walked on the moon.  I did not know that.  I also didn't know that there are people living on the International Space Station 24/7!

Second stop was a private island, Great Stirrup Cay.  Mom and I just hung out on the beach and went swimming in the ocean.

I hate feeling sand anywhere else, but on my feet I love it!

Our third port of call was Nassau, Bahamas!  Our glass kayak and snorkeling tour was cancelled because it was raining all morning, but by the afternoon it cleared and we walked to Junkanoo Beach and swam again.  The lady that guards their bathrooms is super rude though and will not let you enter until your feet have been washed AND dried.

On the ship I found my new celebrity crush- Ruben Anthony! So cute! He was one of the lead singers/dancers and was amazing to watch perform.  I miss him already.
Besides watching the shows mom and I did Karaoke most of the nights, so much fun!

The subways in New York are ridiculous.
On the weekends they change all the routes so the maps and signs are useless!
Nobody can tell you which direction the trains are running either so be sure to take a compass with you.

Saturday was so great! We got of the cruise ship and saw Wicked on Broadway then went to the Manhattan temple.  We missed the last session, but still got to do sealings and still see the Celestial Room.

Sunday before our flight home we stopped at the MoMA for a couple hours.
Got to see some work from Richard Avedon, Edward Weston, Cindy Sherman, Julia Margaret Cameron etc…

My Delta flight sat at the end of the runway for 2 hours before we took off, but I finally made it home!
I still have to wait 3 more days to see Kyle though.  I miss him like CRAZY!
16 days is way to long to be without Kyle.
