The Birth Story!

 Saturday, December 10, 2016
Happy Birthday Tai Lynn!

The story begins at 3am when my water broke, 8 days early :)
Kyle was working a graveyard shift so I called him and he was home by 3:19 so we could head to Orem Community Hospital.
At around 4:30 when they checked me I was only dilated 3.5cm, but told the nurses that I wanted to try having her naturally.  So many friends that have given birth naturally have said that they liked it better, and I was curious.
At 7am they checked me again and I was dilated 5cm so I told them they could start me on some pitocin to help speed it up a little bit.  Well, from there the contractions started hurting so much worse!  At 9am, when I was only dilated to 6cm I decided to get an epidural.  I couldn't do it naturally if I was only dilating 1cm every 2 hours!  Since it was a Saturday they had to call the nurse anesthetist to come in, so that took about 40 minutes.
By 9:50 he was finally there to give my an epidural and I was so grateful!  I sat on the edge of the bed and right as he was pulling the needle out, my body decided it had to push and it was pushing!
The nurse checked and there was a head!  The doctor was rushed in and 10 minutes later Tai Lynn was born at 10:02am.  I started feeling the epidural just as my episiotomy was being stitched up!  Lucky me.
So I am definitely checking giving birth naturally off of the bucket list. #89 is complete!
My curiosity has been filled.
I don't know how women can train themselves to check out of feeling that much pain, but good for them for being able to do it! That is now the worst pain I have ever experienced.
She was 9 pounds, 5 ounces and 20.5 inches long with quite a bit of dark hair!
She nursed for a good 45 minutes before we could even get a picture of her to send out.
I did feel much better afterwards this time than last time though and didn't throw up at all, which was nice!
The next day Kasen got to come meet Tai and it was so fun!
He knows how to say "baby" and gave her a kiss.
He touched her head a few times, but by then was bored and wanted to get down.
He'll be 18 months old next week when she is 1 week old!

Staying at the hospital for 48 hours and having a nursery there is a million times better than staying for 24 hours without a nursery! Overall I had a much better experience this time and we are so excited to be home now!
Thank you everyone that came to visit us :)
