Jake and Kristi made the cutest dinosaur paintings for Marc's nursery and it reminded me of some pictures I pinned on Pinterest when I was getting Tai's nursery ready.
Of course I wouldn't pay the money to buy them cause I'm cheap like that, but they inspired me to paint some of my own.
With some help from Jake! We collaborated because he drew the pictures for me!
Thank you so much Jake- You are the best!
I actually used something I learned in one of the painting classes that I had to take at UVU, and hated.
I never thought I would have used anything from my painting classes...
But it makes painting some things easier! If you happen to be into painting pictures.
You need illustration board (I used the Canson board from Hobby Lobby), tracing paper, rubber cement, an X-acto knife and your acrylic paint and paint brushes.
Draw your pictures on the illustration board with pencil.
Then you'll use the rubber cement to glue a piece of tracing paper onto your picture.
Use the x-acto knife to cut out everything that is the first color you want to paint.
Peel off the tracing paper and use your finger to rub off the rubber cement. (It just balls up like in the picture above.)
Then you can paint your picture!
Once it's dry, peel off the rest of the tracing paper and then glue a new piece onto your board and cut out the parts of the next color that you want to paint.
Keep cutting out pieces and painting them until you are all done.
These are my finished pictures!
Well almost... Don't look too closely because I need to get some white paint to touch up some spots.
The gray paint is darker than I thought, but I'm still happy with them.
And now they are hanging above Tai's crib (that she still doesn't' sleep in because she gets all her limbs stuck between the bars) with the quilt that mom Tammy collaborated with me to make!
But instructions for that are in a previous blog post :)
