Frosty Fun and a Funeral

A few months ago Katey bought a house, well a cabin, in Midway so last week we went to visit and see their new place! They have so much snow up there that we parked in a parking lot at the bottom of the mountain and Katey picked us up in their Ranger to go up to her cabin. Kasen thought it was so fun to ride in the bulldozer!
Katey took us for a ride and then after we all ate lunch we went sledding!
Mostly my kids just wanted to eat the snow.
Tai even bent right over to eat the snow off of her boots a few times!
 Still eating snow.
She had fun sledding though too! She's say, "wheeee!" the whole way down and then just sit on the sled while I pulled her back up the hill.
Kasen even got to pee in the snow and thought it was so funny that he turned the snow yellow. That's when he really learned why we don't eat yellow snow!

Friday we got to go on our monthly temple date!
There have been so many changes in the temple that happened this month, so the temple was PACKED full of everyone wanting to see what's new. I read an article about how all the feminists are super excited about some of the changes because the "sexist" parts have all been taken out. I had no idea that was a thing until I read that article. I'd never even considered any of that before...
"Ask yourself if what you are doing today gets you closer to where you want to be tomorrow."

Later that night I went on a girls dinner date to Aubergine and Co. to celebrate Ashley's 30th birthday! Woo woo!
HBD Ashley!

Saturday I went with Kyle to the funeral of Provo Officer Joseph Shinner.
He was shot and killed in the line of duty on 1/5/19.
It was the first time I'd been to a fallen officers funeral and was super sad. Especially to see all the similarities between he and Kyle.
I am extra grateful that Kyle is still here to hug!
I've been with other police wives a couple times to help make these blue ribbons for funerals, but the feeling of being there wearing one is different. I got to ride in Kyle's police car for the procession from Orem to Springville and one of the most touching things from that whole day was seeing so many supporters along the procession route. Some holding flags, some holding signs that say, "Thank you officers" and knowing that there are people out there that care about their safety in the job they do to protect the rest of us.
Then of course the last call.
Over the radio they call 1004 and when SJ3310 doesn't respond they announce his end of watch on January 5, 2019 and thank him for his service.
I can't even imagine what his wife and little boy are facing and hope every day that it never happens to me. I don't ever want a police chief to hand me the flag that was draped over Kyle's casket.

"To take sorrow out of death would mean taking love out of life."

Back to good news though, I registered Kasen for preschool this week and am 1/2 way done memorizing The Living Christ! I even ran 5K too! Just have 6 minutes and 31 seconds to shave off of my time to reach my goal this year...
 Still love his Mowgli nose.
And his thing for stacking every pillow, cushion and blanket we own into a giant pile. Every day.
He calls them his "sculptures." Sometimes his sculptures are piles of stuff, sometimes they are trains of stuff in a line and sometimes he calls those lines his obstacle course!
Tai has peed in the big girl potty one time so far and Kasen went to primary yesterday without crying about it! Yay!
They both ask for their doors to be open when they go to bed at night and sometimes we can hear them talking to each other before they go to sleep. If Tai is in bed before Kasen she tells me, "Kasen bed too!"
I love when she asks to eat "loop loops"
I've also taught Kasen that he can't leave the table until he asks to be excused. It's working pretty dang well! Sends my OCD off the charts when they start running around, in the middle of eating, with marinara sauce and syrup all over their hands because neither of them will use a utensil to eat!
