Pokemon Party

Kasen is 7 years old today!
And he requested a Pokemon birthday party. He had the whole thing planned too. I tried convincing him to let us rent a blow up water slide, but he wanted a piñata and to play pin the tail on Pikachu. We made it 7 years without ever doing a piñata...
He made each of his friends a bag for their piñata candy and also drew 7 Pokemon that he taped up around the living room for a scavenger hunt for his friends to find. It worked out well because Kasen and Tai had a make up day for swimming lessons and were late to his birthday party, but his friends got to do his scavenger hunt while they waited for him!
Kohen stayed home with me to get ready for the party and while I was taking pictures of stuff he kept yelling, "Cheese!" so that I'd take his picture too.
We ate hot dogs for lunch and then the kids all waited so patiently in a height line, while Kyle figured out how to hang up the piñata.
There were 19 kids there to hit the piñata and I was sure it was going to fall before everyone got a chance to hit it! BUT everyone got a turn! Kennedy was the one to knock it open at the end.
And I have no desire to ever do a piñata again. Kasen ended up crying because kids were taking his candy out of the pile he scooped up and bigger kids were pushing smaller kids out of the way and filling their bags all the way up.  Kasen wanted to go first, but we told him to only hit it once so he didn't really even get a good turn. There's just no good way to do a piñata!
Kasen also asked for an ice cream cake and I was pleasantly surprised with the Charizard that Dairy Queen drew on his cake! It was phenomenally fantastic!
Then Kasen opened presents!
Such a lucky boy. His friend John, from school, gave him a Pokemon Lego set, Knox gave him a set of waterballoons, Quinn gave him a little Pokemon Lego toy, Cache and Nayvi gave him a Nerf guns set, Cooper and Beckett gave him Pokemon cards, and Hyde gave him a card game and candy wrapped in money. Naomi was visiting from Texas and got to come! She gave Kasen a bug catcher kit and a gift card to a bookstore, Kallie and Reagan gave him a Pokemon hat and Pikachu pajamas, Krista got him a Pikachu towel and a Pokemon watch, and Kyley and Lyndsey got him Dogman books and a Dogman blanket. Ben and Jordan got him Dogman books and Grammy Tammy got him Dogman books too! He got some doubles, but we'll trade a couple and then he'll have all 10 books! Grandpa Kelly gave him a Ninjago Lego set, Grandma Mel and Jack gave him a couple toy bugs and a remote control car and Grandma and Grandpa Forsyth got him a flying ball toy that Kyle has loved playing with too.
Camden and Aiden weren't able to come to his party, but they brought him a Charizard Lego set that Kasen already built! Super nice of them. He got a birthday card in the mail from Great Grandma and Grandpa Forsyth and Kyle and I signed him up for a 3 day space camp in July.
Kennedy wins presents though because she MADE Kasen this quilt! How amazing and incredible is that?!
That is the sweetest thing!
He has been praying since May that he would have a great birthday and Tai even started asking for it in her prayers too.
He still asks me to sing Rainbows to him every night, but his Spiderman blanket that goes on top of him first, has been replaced with his new Dogman blanket. He is very particular about the soft side of the blankets and will immediately flip them over if you're using the wrong side! His new favorite game is CodeSpark on the computer and his high pitch laugh when he's really laughing is my favorite.
Kasen I sure love you and hope you had a great birthday too!
