KASEN
Kasen has been dreading school ending. He does not want summer to come because he loves school so much! He has loved being in Mrs. Cable's class and so when I let him know there were only 2 Friday's of school left he said, "Don't rub it in my face Mom!"
At the beginning of March we had him take the ALL national test for gifted students, just to see if he would qualify for the program. And he qualified!
The highest score possible is 99. Above average is 77-95. Very High scores are 96+.
Kasen got a 98.
And a 8B(Q+) cogAT score profile.
I didn't realize that it wasn't a program he could do at our school though. He would have to go to Saratoga Shores Elementary School, which is over 20 minutes away. I really wasn't excited about driving that far at 7:30am, but so many parents have told me how great this Accelerated Learning Lab class is and how they're dying to get their kids into it, that I feel like we should give it a try. So now we're trying to get Tai registered there too so they can go to the same school.
For show and tell this week he chose to take his reading light that shines an outer space scene and he was super proud that he got a chant from his class, "plug it in! plug it in!" Little bookworm.
-Thanks to Grandpa Kelly, Kasen requested to watch the 1958 version of The Blob. At one point during the movie he said, "My heart feels like I'm scared, but I'm not scared. I just want to see what happens next." Then he wanted to watch it again with Tai. We said, "Nope."
-He's very literal so the other day when I asked Kyle if a certain sandwich sounded good, Kasen asked, "How do you hear what a sandwich sounds like? Don't you mean it looks good?" Haha
TAI
The week before Kolt was born Kyle cut all the boys hair and I got a hair cut so then I took Tai to get her very first EVER haircut! Just a little trim so we can keep working on that Elsa braid.
Tai had her last pajama day and wanted to wear all pink for their Mercy Watson party. It's a book series they've been reading about a pink pig. She was outside helping Kohen find roll-polies before school though and wanted a picture.
I loved watching Kasen and Tai dance at their dance festival, with their little waves to us in-between their moves. Tai danced to Who Let the Dogs Out and Kasen danced to Dreamers.
After Tai's last day of school we went out for Ultimate Kong Kones and it was the first time I've taken 4 kids out in public with me. I need to talk to the kids about not letting Kohen out of his carseat or the car until I'm ready, but we survived!
KOHEN
We've done a nighttime oximeter test for Kohen 4x now to see if he needs to have his tonsils out, but the results come back "inconclusive" every time. Maybe this fourth time will do the trick.
The first and only time our whole family has been in the car together is to go to the dentist. Which is getting tricky because the dental hygienists always put both Kyle and I in the chairs at the same time. I don't know who they think will then keep Kohen from running around to touch everything... But nobody has any cavities! yay!
KOLT
We also did the nighttime oximeter test last week to see if Kolt could come off oxygen, but the pediatrician said he didn't pass. So we rented an oximeter to try again this week. Even though whenever we take him off oxygen he stays over 95. I'm so sick of the stupid mess of tangled cords and not being able to take Kolt anywhere in the house that I want to go.
He got circumcised, his umbilical cord finally fell off after 20 days and he had his first bath!
This is his cute little baby rat tail.
KYLE
has been loving his 6 weeks of paternity leave!
He's been fishing, to Top Golf, played basketball every Wednesday, and is going to Wendover. He's also planted the garden, been making all the dinners for us, puts the kids to bed and has been driving Kasen to school in the mornings.
And he's started a new backyard project to give us some shade! Since the tree we planted 4 years ago is still just a stick...
We're all going to miss him so much when he has to go back to work. Especially Kohen! He is Kyle's #1 sidekick.
Cheers for summer!
