Kasen LOVES Super Wings! It's a show about airplanes and they transform into robots to deliver packages. He loves it and is always quoting it.
So for part of Kasen's 3rd birthday coming up we decided to take him flying with Uncle Ben in his airplane!
Since Kyle didn't want to come there was an extra seat and Stephanie got to come with us instead!
Kyle decided the day before that he would still come with us to the airport and it's a lucky thing that he did.
We woke up at 7am to head down to the Spanish Fork airport to meet Ben. Kasen wasn't really into taking any pictures like I had hoped, but we got him to sit in the airplane. I wasn't sure if he was going to freak out or not because every time for the last month, that I've asked him if he wants to go fly in Ben's airplane he has said, "No!" So our new plan was to just have him get in to look and not really tell him about flying in it. So we did! And when Ben closed our door Kasen waved at Kyle and Tai and said, "We'll be coming back!"
Stephanie got some AMAZING pictures too! I am so impressed with her photography lately! Thank you so much for the pictures Stephanie! It means the world to have them!
Ben kept reassuring us that all the weird noises were completely normal...
And Kasen LOVED it! He could see the cows and we flew over all 4 temples in Utah county, Grandma and Grandpa Forsyth's house, then over our house! Kasen waved and said, "Hi Peeka!" when we showed him our house. He also kept saying, "Transform" like they do on Super Wings.
About the time that Ben showed us Spanish Fork airport and was squaring us up to land I really started to not feel well and could tell I was about to pass out. Ben had told us during take off that to avoid motion sickness, turn the air on your face and look out to the distance, but by the time I asked him, "What if I feel like I'm going to pass out?" I was on my way and when he turned around I was gone! He said I was out for over a minute and when I started coming back I could hear him calling for medical to meet us on the runway over the radio. He and Steph were both holding onto my hands and telling me to keep my eyes open, but I missed the entire landing and started throwing up as soon as we were on the ground. So glad it happened at the end of the flight and not out over Eagle Mountain!
Once Kasen was unbuckled he was up telling me to keep my eyes open and trying to open them for me. Haha
An ambulance came and they got me inside to check me out. My blood pressure was 88/58. They tried so hard to convince us that I needed to be transported and even tried calling a doctor to mandate it, but we told them we'd go ourselves. I guess I could say that I have ridden in an ambulance though because they did drive us over from the runway to our car in the parking lot.
"Mom was sick, Ben's friends take care of you!"
"Mom was sick, Ben's friends take care of you!"
We sat in the ER for 2 hours waiting for the bag of fluid to empty (after getting another EKG, some blood work and paying a $250 copay) just to have them tell me that I am just cursed with low blood pressure. Which I already knew because this is the 4th time (since being married) that this has happened to me. And now I know that I don't have to go to the hospital just because the paramedics tell me I should.
It is amazing to me how EXHAUSTING it is just to pass out though. SO TIRED.

Kyle is starting to believe me when I tell him that I need to eat or I feel like I will pass out though!
Ben and Stephanie were so awesome and took our kids to eat and play and McDonald's while we were at the hospital. So lucky I had so many people around to help take care of me. Sorry for the scare Ben! But the flight was fun, even if I might not ever do it again...

Seriously I get so sick in my dad’s airplane. I’ve thrown up so many times that I get nauseous just thinking about it. I’ve never passed out though!
ReplyDeleteThroughout most of my life I had unusually low blood pressure and I just learned to eat frequent small amounts of food. Now I am borderline high blood pressure :( I would rather have low than high, but I'm glad you had people with you. It scares me to think that this could ever happen when you did not have others around you to help you. The rest of the outing looked fun though.
