Not only are we quarantined because of the corona virus, but bright and early Wednesday morning we woke up to a 5.7 earthquake at 7am! I heard Tai outside our door saying, "Someone was shaking my bed!" Kasen was bummed that he missed it. He was playing on his tablet and didn't even notice. He got all dressed to go outside to SEE the earthquake, but I told him it was over. Around 1pm we felt another 4.6 earthquake for just a few seconds, but I couldn't get his attention fast enough to SEE that one either!
We talked about getting under a table or bed though and to stay away from windows in case the glass breaks. He's pretty excited for next time.
Can earthquakes and viruses be scary? Yes.
But they don't have to be.
My kids haven't worried about either one at all and I think it's mostly cause they haven't seen me or Kyle panicking and stressing over it. I think we owe that to our kids. Reacting calmly so they don't have permanent fears about things outside of their control.
It's been 8 days now since I've even been in a car, more than 10 for my kids. It's the worst.
I'm one of those moms that is a much better mom when I have breaks from my kids. So this is me wishing I was at TOFW in Idaho right now. But instead I had to refund my tickets cause they rescheduled it for the week I'm having the baby. Super.
Luckily Kyle and I were able to make it to the temple for our monthly temple date before all of them closed to any proxy work. Always a good reminder of where we can find true peace, power and perspective.
Besides trying to keep my kids entertained and clean up after all their messes, we've also finished cleaning the basement out since our infestation of mice. Bleached all the baseboards, windowsills and shelves, disinfected all the big toys, put the rest in a bleach bath, threw some away, washed all the bedding and blankets down there a few times, disinfected the mattress, bought all new toy bins, etc.
And used our tax return to buy supplies to put in a bathroom downstairs!
Good news: Tai is rocking her letters! Like super star status!
But she's not so good about listening, even after begging her to stop coloring on the table. And I'm slowly running out of activities for the kids to do...

Just need to keep reminding myself of things I am super grateful for:
-My testimony, the hope in knowing that everything will work out
-Our Bishop gave permission for families to administer the ordinance of the sacrament in our homes during the quarantine. So Sunday we had a special little sacrament meeting, where our kids got to see Kyle bless and pass us the sacrament. We got to talk about what the bread and water mean and about the priesthood that gives this sacred ordinance it's power and authority to be performed.
-We are safe and healthy
-We still have food, running water and electricity
-We are together, nobody is being sent away to war
-Kyle's job security
-I've been feeling the baby kick for over a week now
-That we can still connect with friends and family via the internet, and Marco Polo
-Kasen still being able to learn lots of great things through Upstart, cause I ain't no school teacher
-Laughter and all the funny memes
