Baby and The Betus

 31 weeks pregnant today!

I asked Rubis to take some maternity photos for me while the poppies were in bloom at Lambert Park too so I woke up at 4:30am to go. I don't remember the last time I got out of bed before 8:30...
Thanks Steph!
EmmaLee and I also got together last week to make baby name letters together! #craftday
Aaaand I found out that I have gestational diabetes this time around. I guess it was a good time to not be allowed to eat anything yummy right when we aren't allowed to do anything fun either! Since all summer plans were canceled. And since summer is the perfect time to be eating ice cream and snow cones.
We met with a diabetes nutritionist for a couple hours yesterday and it was pretty overwhelming. I have never dieted or counted anything to do with food so I don't really have an idea what the numbers even mean on labels or when people talk about how many calories, carbs and sugar foods have etc. But now I do because I have a meal plan and I have to count all the carbs in my food!
I have to test my keytones when I pee in the morning,
Test my blood glucose,
Eat a breakfast that has 30g of carbs and some protein,
Test my blood glucose 2 hours later,
Have a snack that has 30g of carbs and some protein,
Lunch-45g of carbs and some protein,
Test my blood 2 hours later,
Snack- 30g of carbs and some protein,
Dinner- 45g of carbs and some protein,
Test my blood 2 hours later,
Snack- 30g of carbs and some protein.
Also need to make sure I have 4 servings of calcium a day and exercise 20-30min, 5 days a week without actually breaking my pelvic bone (I think it's close!)
So now I'm one of those people completely fixated on food and what is good or bad for me to eat and when I need to eat next and figuring out the math of how much I can eat. Ugh
It's only for about 8 weeks, but it also means that I have the gene for Type II diabetes and am at risk for developing that later in life.
I've always thought of myself as fairly healthy. I don't drink soda and am not a huge fan of candy and chocolate. I exercise and hardly ever eat out. I love a good salad and always eat breakfast in the morning like I should, but maybe I'm not as good as I thought because this last week when I turned down ice cream, cookies and Kneaders french toast it was rough. I really look forward to occasional treats and yummy breakfast food!
So once I have Kohen, and the betus is all gone, bring me all the yummy cookies and all the chocolate ice cream! I will be binging on it for a while. #noregrets
