Escape the World

I just got back from Youth Conference with my ward and we had a nice weekend of escaping the world. That was our theme of Youth Conference so we started off by doing escape rooms on Thursday night! It was an LDS Breakout one and I was impressed with how fast the youth in our group were getting those codes and clues and puzzles figured out.
"Oh how great the goodness of God, who prepareth a way for our escape from the grasp of this awful monster; yea that monster, death and hell, which I call the death of the body and also the death of the spirit." 2 Nephi 9:10

It is not possible to always escape the world though. We still live in the world and are surrounded by the opinions and temptations of the world. The trick for us, as disciples of Jesus Christ, is to figure out how to be IN the world, but not OF the world by following and sharing the LIGHT of the world.
Whatever is made legal or accepted by the majority is not always what is right.
Sin is sin because it leads to bondage. Happiness lies in the true freedom that living the gospel brings. Self control and trying to manage our risk of heartache and struggle is freedom.
John 15:19
"If ye were of the world the world would love his own, but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."

First thing Friday morning, during archery, the giant sprinklers came on and the one right behind me nearly provided me a free enema! Not the only time my butt would be wet during youth conference either.

That afternoon we hiked to upper Bridal Veil Falls. I'd never hiked Bridal Veil Falls at all so I was excited to go on a new hike! It was a short, though steep, hike too.
From there we headed up to Heber Valley Camp!
Friday we threw hatchets and played volleyball, had a slumber party in a cabin with Becca and Jen, then Saturday we went on a paddle boat (the second time my butt got wet) and on one of those big ropes course swings!
The cute little pot guts were fearless and would come run around all over our feet too.
I was so glad I got to go up with the youth to youth conference. And Becca and Jen because their testimonies are inspiring. Jen is moving next month and we are all super sad about it!
Becca should make a great new YW President though. Haha Soon we won't have to just tease her about that anymore...
