Kohen James Liddiard has arrived!
Wednesday, August 5, 2020
We headed to American Fork Hospital around 10am for our scheduled induction at 39 weeks and he was born at 5:16pm.
We
had our last ultrasound at 36 weeks and we saw 3 rolls of his back fat
there on the ultrasound that day so I was positive that he would be over
9lbs. But Kyle was right about him being under 9. He was only 8.10lbs and 21 inches.
I
had a goal to weigh more than Kyle by the time I went into labor with
Kohen, and even though Kyle was doing a weight loss challenge and just
lost 25 lbs. I still didn't catch him. I only made it to 190lbs this
time. I blame my gestational diabetes meal plan. Without it I would have
passed him for sure!
Dr.
Cloward came in to break my water around 11:30 and I was dilated 3cm.
She said Kohen's hand was on top of his head too and if he didn't move
it we couldn't deliver him vaginally... So I got an epidural and started
pitocin hoping he'd move his hand in time, but I wasn't progressing
much at all. By 3:30 I was only dilated a little over 4cm and the nurse
said my water actually hadn't been broken. So Dr. Cloward came back to
actually break my water around 4pm and by 4:45 I was dilated 9cm! Then
the body shakes started and I was ready. Luckily Kohen had moved his
hand too.
I only had to push a handful of times, have an episiotomy, and then he was born at 5:16pm.
Such a cute little squishy, with the same grumpy face that Kasen had when he was born.
I
was STARVING by then so we ordered dinner and I made it through a roll
and some chocolate milk before I started throwing up. I made it my
entire pregnancy never throwing up before that though!

Cousin Keslee was born on Sunday, August 2nd, but has been in the NICU so EmmaLee got to come see us in the hospital! Fox13 saw something my mom had posted about it and wanted to interview us for a little news story Thursday night. Kinda fun that we were able to see each other and be on the news!

No
other visitors were allowed because of Covid-19, including Kasen and
Tai. I had to go get tested for it on Sunday, 3 days before my
induction, and was negative. We had to wear masks in the halls, couldn't
have a photographer, but Kyle got to order all his meals for free from
the cafeteria to encourage him to stay at the hospital which was nice!

I wanted to stay in the hospital for the 48 hours to take advantage of #1 the meals and #2 the nursery. But because of Covid they were encouraging babies to stay in the rooms with parents. So I did not get any sleep at all. Super bummer.

Kyle
would stay up with him to let me try to sleep though AND he changed
every diaper while we were there in the hospital. He's the best.

So Friday morning we made it home. I found the same outfit we tried to take Kasen home in, except he was too big for it!

Also,
the first week of breastfeeding is still the worst pain in the entire
world. I DREAD it every time, but know that I only have pain, blood and
tears to look forward to for the next week or so.
So happy to have our little squish here though!
