GC

This year we got to watch General Conference in Kyley and Jordan's new trailer, while we were camping with them, and I did quite enjoy it! All growing up there was both a Priesthood Session and a Woman's Session of General Conference (the week before conference). You had to dress up to go watch the broadcast at a church building and I loved the tradition of the Fathers and Sons going out to dinner afterwards and the Mothers and Daughters going out to eat together. But then it changed and there was one session every other conference, but this time was the first time that the Saturday evening session has been just another family session that we get to watch at home.

For me, this conference had a definite theme and overall message of REPENTANCE. It is an essential principle of the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is necessary for each of us to change and become. It's really beautiful if you think about how God's plan is so perfect for His children.

This was my #1 favorite quote from conference. It sums up perfectly the point of the gospel! We are here to be redeemed and restored. Elder Christofferson also goes on to say, "Because God’s love is all-embracing, some speak of it as “unconditional,” and in their minds they may project that thought to mean that God’s blessings are “unconditional” and that salvation is “unconditional.” They are not. Our sins must be resolved."

“Nevertheless, he that repents and does the commandments of the Lord shall be forgiven.”

Contrary to the doubts of some, there really is such a thing as right and wrong. We are to qualify to receive ALL that God has! -President Nelson

"If ye love me, keep my commandments."

The gospel of Jesus Christ is not just nice; it is essential for all. We NEED Jesus Christ. - Sister Cordon

He can heal our hearts as He cleanses us from sin and lifts us through difficult trials. -Elder Nielson

God is our Father and is exceptionally good at forgiving and forgetting sins we have forsaken. -Elder Holland

God loves us as we are, but He also loves us too much to leave us this way. Growing up unto the Lord is what mortality is all about. Change is what Christ’s Atonement is all about. Not only can Christ resurrect, cleanse, console, and heal us, but through it all, He can transform us to become more like Him. -Elder Wilcox

So many messages about repenting! Just like in the scriptures. We can't just do nothing and expect to receive everything. Love yourself by loving God. I know He loves us! Like Elder Wilcox said, "Don't hate yourself for what you've done, but love Jesus for what He's done." What He did for each us matters and it changes EVERYTHING. We can repent, be cleansed, resurrected and exalted with our families. So many blessings. Repentance restores blessings. Everything ever broken, restored. Everything ever lost, restored. Sin restored to happiness. God is a God of restoration and that includes our own repentance. Doesn't that just fill you with joy and hope?!

Conference just inspires so much good. Messages about things like; how to foster unity, God's love for each of us, how to achieve personal peace, how to recognize personal revelation, how to better love others, care for the poor and serve, etc.

These absolutely are messages for everyone, to bless everyone. How thankful I am for a living prophet of God on the earth! I sustain.
