Halloween is the best. I just think it's so fun!
This year I reused the Alice in Wonderland and White Rabbit costume from 2015 and we added a Face Card and the Queen of Hearts! I was so happy that Tai was all in for being the Queen of Hearts. I tried showing Kasen Mad Hatter costumes to join us, but his heart was set on being a vampire.
Tai wanted to be dressed as the Queen of Hearts while watching the Queen of Hearts, so Saturday morning we watched Alice in Wonderland!
I don't know if I actually saved money by making her costume myself, but I loved putting it all together anyways. My mom cut out the vinyl hearts to iron on her dress and I made her card collar by hot gluing face cards together. I think it turned out so much cuter than the store bought outfits.
Cutest White Rabbit and Kasen rocked being a Vampire! Friday morning we got to go watch the costume parade at his school and Kyle didn't even recognize him coming down our isle. Probably cause he actually had some teeth in his mouth. He lost his 5th tooth at school on Friday! I loved seeing all the fun costumes though. Especially the scary clown with a Free Hugs sign that I tried to get to hug Sydney! Haha
On Saturday Grammy Tammy came down to have dinner with us and decorate cookies. Grandma Mel and Jack stopped by to bring the kids a Halloween treat as well. Then EmmaLee's family stopped by for a picture to complete our Alice in Wonderland look too!
Kristi is so sweet and ordered us some Halloween cookies to decorate earlier this week too!
Then we went out Trick-or-Treating in the PERFECT weather! Short sleeves, no jackets, loved it! There have been so many fights online about which day to trick-or-treat on, since Halloween was on Sunday this year. But just like Fourth of July, Utah has always celebrated on Saturday instead, so that's what we did. Earlier Kasen was asking why Halloween is on Sunday, "Halloween isn't a good way to remember Jesus." Haha
We walked around the neighborhood with the DeVaneys and Tai was running way ahead of all the boys. They even got a little ride on the Pelton's golf cart all the way down Blossom Street. I love how chill Kohen is all the time too. He was so content hanging out in the stroller, being along for the ride. We stayed out much longer than we have in the past, the kids were loving it. Kyle was the dad telling the kids not to walk on people's grass. I don't get what's wrong with that when you're already going to be on their property walking up to the porch. Walking on grass doesn't hurt the grass! And there's Tai getting us all in trouble, walking on the grass because, "mom is walking on the grass!"
Tai asked me to hold her bucket right at the end cause it was getting so heavy! They had their buckets overflowing by the time we got home. I told them to show me their favorite candy. Kasen's favorite is 3 Musketeers and Tai was excited about the homemade cotton candy they got!
Kohen is all about the candy too! He eats it with the wrappers still on, does not care at all!
This is Tai's pumpkin we carved earlier that day. Unfortunately Kasen was in trouble and didn't get to carve his pumpkin that he picked out at the pumpkin patch this year.
Friday night we got to babysit the Day cousins so we planned a Halloween Party!
We had Spider pizza and Witches Brew for dinner with Graveyard Dirt Cups for dessert.
"Somebody call the police! We're smoking!"
Then we played a few games! Kasen chose to play the Mummy Wrap game, Tai chose to play the Eyeball Race game, and I picked to play Halloween Charades!
These are everyone's scariest faces! We practiced spooky laughs and witchy cackles as well. Then we made sucker ghosts and called it a night.
Sunday, after church, we got to go have lunch at Grandma and Grandpa Forsyth's house! Mom always goes above and beyond when it comes to throwing a party and celebrating a holiday. There was so much fun Halloween food!
When we got home we went for a walk to burn off some sugar and the streets were dead!
Tai has been scared of the dark lately so we spent our whole walk thinking of all the happy things that she could think about instead of what scares her. It was like my favorite conversation with them ever. Kasen throwing out idea after idea, Tai saying, "Oh. My. Gosh!" and repeating the idea, Kasen telling me, "that's a good one!" when I suggest Disneyland or hot chocolate while we're camping and then when Tai fell on the ground and without missing a beat, Kasen saying, "Think about if that never happened!"
Kasen told her to think about if rocks were soft like blankets, swimming in Knox's pool, kittens (but then we remembered Tai is scared of cats), if everyone loved you, if you were your favorite color, if they were both constellations, etc. Then there was Kohen strumming his lips, making mouth noises. It was so entertaining! I just love all of them.
