Tai got to go with Kyle to see the last session of conference at the Conference Center on Sunday!
It was the only one President Nelson was present at and he announced a temple coming to Spanish Fork. Elder Tai also spoke that session, but I don't think she realized his name is spelled the same as hers. I thought it was neat though!
The story of the 10 virgins was mentioned SO many times during conference and it has always been one of my favorite stories from the Bible. I loved what Sister Johnson shared about it. The other theme that stood out to me was to emulate our Savior. Not just believe in Him, but become as He is.
"While the women represented as the five wise virgins are not sharing the oil of their conversion, they are sharing their light as they hold up their lamps, which are full of oil and burning brightly. We are commanded to share His light. So keep your lamp full of the oil of conversion to Jesus Christ and be prepared to keep your lamp trimmed and burning bright. Then let that light shine. When we share our light, we bring the relief of Jesus Christ to others, our conversion to Him is deepened, and we can be whole even while we wait for healing. And as we let our light shine brightly, we can be joyful even while we wait." -Sister Johnson
"Ultimately, how we live may be the best, most genuine form of worship. Showing our devotion means EMULATING the Father and the Son—cultivating Their attributes and character in ourselves. True worship is transformative." -Elder Christofferson
"This EMULATION of the Savior’s character is at the heart of worshipping Him. As President Nelson taught, “Our adoration of Jesus is best expressed by our emulation of Jesus.” - Elder Strong
"Ordinances don’t save us because they fulfill a heavenly checklist. Rather, when we live the covenants connected with these ordinances, we BECOME the kind of person who wants to be in God’s presence. Our preparation to meet Jesus Christ accelerates when we stop asking what God will permit and start asking what God would prefer." -Elder Shumway
Everyone is living with their own degree of difficulty. And your Savior is the only one who truly knows the difficulty you are living with. I want a relationship with the one person who gets me, who knows my heart and how hard I’m trying! Like the diving judges, they too factor in the degree of difficulty. -Sister Runia
Kyle made some yummy biscuits for a conference snack and learned over the weekend that Jesus' birthday is April 6th :)
This is what Kohen drew during conference. This is Daddy heart, Mommy heart with baby heart in her belly, brother heart and the TV is broken.
I also finished listening to a Christian book this week, Faith After Doubt and liked one of the conclusions the author came to. "What matters most is not believing the stories in a factual sense, but believing in the meaning they carry and then act upon it and embody it in my life. Live the meaning the stories contain."
Whether all the scripture stories are literal or not we can still learn true principles that will bless our lives and bring us closer to the Savior. That should be the real point.
Also, for our Relief Society activity this month we used our favorite scriptures to write a poem! I'm usually not very creative with stuff like this so I was pretty happy with how mine turned out.
