It's a holiday weekend so guess who has sick kids! US! Kasen threw up at school on Friday so I picked him up on the way to leave our car at the Nissan Dealership to get fixed. The cherry on top.
We had a good day Saturday though. We dyed eggs in the morning and Kolt had fun using the egg spinner to color his eggs.
Kohen was so sweet, telling Kolt how cool his egg looked!
After dying eggs Kyle wanted to go fishing for a little bit and of course Kohen wants to go with him. Anytime Kyle leaves to go anywhere Kohen wants to go with him, "Because I love you!"
I love what Kyle posted on Instagram about their excursion:
"I was planning all week to hit Strawberry for ice off today, The recent storm froze the lake again so plans changed. Decided to run to Hobble Creek real quick. Kohen sensed I was leaving and found himself in the truck ready to go. Little fishing was done, but lots of sticks were thrown in the water.
While we were walking along the river, I would tell Kohen to be careful and watch where he was stepping so he didn't fall in the river. Kohen told me, "I don't need to, I'm following your footsteps." His words were humbling. I of course started making sure I was stepping in safe places for him, but then couldn't help thinking about how impactful my example is to him and my kids. How often am I leading without realizing who's trying to follow my steps? I definitely have work to do! But I am so grateful for the opportunity to be a dad to some amazing kids.
With it being Easter tomorrow I want to express how grateful I am for our Savior and the example He left for all to follow. Grateful for His Atonement and resurrection which makes it possible for all to follow and be with our loved one again. Happy Easter"
After watching Kasen and Tai play their first basketball game we went to an Easter display in Pleasant Grove. We went to one in Alpine 3 years ago and there were pros and cons to each one.
This one had more displays and things to read about, but the line was almost an hour long. In Alpine there was only 1 other family there when we went and I remember walking in to the replica of the tomb and hearing the music and feeling the Spirit hit me so strong!
He is not here, He is risen!
Easter morning we got up and read the Easter story in the scriptures together and opened our last egg for our Easter countdown. Spoiler alert: It's empty!
Kolt would open the eggs and just put all of the candy right into his mouth as he picked them up!
We had German pancakes and strawberries for breakfast then went to Sacrament and heard the kids sing, "Did Jesus Really Live Again"
Then we came home and Kyle planted the garden with the kids, played Mario Party and I made deviled eggs and smoothies. We went on another family walk and Kyle made us a yummy dinner of chicken Alfredo stuffed shells. Yum!
I was bummed we had to cancel family Easter dinner, but it was actually a good relaxing day together.
And because of Him I get to be with them forever.
