This year for Spring Break, instead of going to Goblin Valley, I suggested trying Kanab and Kyle made it happen! It was not ideal because 10/12 of us got sick and it snowed 3 days, but we were still able to go do everything we were hoping so it worked out.
We left on Saturday, listened to Bridge to Terabithia and stopped for lunch half way. Right after that Kolt started throwing up in the truck. We thought he was carsick, but it was much worse than that. He threw up every 20-30 minutes all the way until midnight that night. Him and I stayed on the fold out bed, but then after that he got to sleep on the bottom bunk, in the bunk room with the rest of the kids, for the first time!
It's a curse our family has that every time we have a trip planned, someone gets sick. Back when Kyle was sick on our honeymoon it was a bad omen foretelling the rest of our life! When we went to Disneyland both of the kids were throwing up, We went on a cruise and Kyle got COVID, we had to cancel a couple camping trips because of sick kids (3 years in a row Memorial Day), and last year I had strep throat the day we left for Flaming Gorge. Someone has thrown up on Halloween, Christmas and New Years Day. But my kids have perfect school attendance because we're only sick when we have fun trips planned!
We stayed at the Ponderosa Grove campground and were happy we were able to keep our reservations even though our trailer is 37' long...
Sunday evening everyone seemed to be feeling good so we hiked up to the Moqui Sand Caves! It was disappointing how much people have carved them up. One woman was working on it while we walked by and Kyle told he she shouldn't be doing that, but Mrs. Green Hair did not care. Why make an effort to go see something cool and then be one of the people making it uglier for everyone else to come see? I don't get it. There are signs asking not to deface the rocks, but we learned that it's not enforced for manmade formations.
Collins was so cute hiking back though. We were watched her bend over 4x in a row to grab a handful of sand in each hand and put it into her pockets!

Monday was super windy so we hung out at camp. Bentley let the kids shoot his BB guns, Kyle beat everyone at Ladder Ball, Kasen kept working on digging his holes and Kohen played with his RC car, right before he came in to tell us that he was sick "for real life" and started puking...
Luckily he still says that camping is his FAVORITE holiday.
Tuesday was not fun! We woke up to snow and Kyle, Tai and Kasen were all puking. We quarantined in our trailer all day long, watching movies and being thankful that I had Aunt Sandy's Tupperware bowls in the trailer with us. I was kinda jealous that Kyle got to be sick and not me though.
Wednesday was the day we found out that we had in fact infected the Days. So Jordan, Collins and Bentley stayed in their trailer while the rest of us went to see The Belly of the Dragon.

It was a short walk, but the kids had fun stacking rocks for a little bit at the end of it. Then we went and found Sand Dune Arch. Another short walk for what Kyle called Moab on a budget!
We made it back before it really started snowing and Kyle was so nice to cook us dinner out in the snow.
Thursday morning everyone felt well enough to go hike the Red Hollow Slot Canyon in Orderville. Another short hike that we were lucky enough to finish before the snow came.
Kasen brought a Sprite with him that made it hard to climb up the rocks since it doesn't have a lid. Not the best drink to bring hiking.
We stopped at Belly of the Dragon again so that everyone that missed it could see it. Kohen was collecting more rocks that he was told were dragon poop. The snow was really coming down too. We went home and had hot chocolate after that.
Kohen wanted to touch the eyeball.
Once the snow stopped we went to play at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes. The kids loved taking off their shoes and socks to run around, even though the sand was so cold!
Friday morning it was time to go home, but our family went on one last hike to see the Kanab Dinosaur Tracks first! The rest of Kyley and Jordan's family were sick. It was our 6th destination and was also only about 1 mile. We were told there were 15 Grallator prints to see and we for sure saw at least 3 of them. So more success than when we went to see some near Millsite last year.
Kyley and I were the only ones that never threw up on this trip. Moms unite!
Sorry our family infected your family, but thanks for being our adventure buddies!
Let's not do it again next year...
Since we stopped for lunch in Richfield on the way down, we got to stop and give hugs to Great Grandpa Forsyth too. I always love getting to stop and visit my Grandparents.
