Monday morning we went to go see Kyle be sworn in with the Salt Lake County Sheriff's office! He will still be doing investigations, but has left Unified after working for them for 8 years. Change is difficult for Kyle and also wondering if it's the right career choice, but I'm proud of him for working hard no matter what. We all went out to lunch afterwards to celebrate his new job!
His first 3 days on the job he'd already been to 2 autopsies. That was new!
He'll be working days for a little while, which will be an adjustment. And he wishes it were still 4 ten hour shifts instead of 5 eights. Having him home in the mornings meant I could leave babies home sleeping to do school drop off and other errands during nap time. But I don't have to keep kids quiet or wait for him to wake up to go back into my room to get ready for the day. There are pros and cons for every shift. I think I'll like him having the same schedule as everyone else's husbands, getting to be home on the weekends too. He'll also be home at nights, which means I need to start meal planning to make dinner again... and he's gonna need to start liking my shows I watch at night too! lol Maybe I'll even start making the bed...
While working for Unified he's been a Property Crimes detective, a FTO, a DUI squad member and lead DUI trainings, flew drones with the Drone Unit and most recently been a DEU detective. I hope he gets the same opportunities to grow and advance here at Salt Lake County!
