I used to think our family never got sick that much, but looking back over the summer, I am changing my mind! We were all puking right after Memorial Day, then Kohen had some weird allergy/pink eye thing that all the boys ended up using eye drops for, Kolt got another double ear infection and then the morning we left for Flaming Gorge I tested positive for strep throat! De.ja.vu. Threw on a mask, picked up my prescription and we headed up for our 10 day vacation.
This year we stayed at Deer Run Campground and the weather was perfect.
First thing Thursday morning, Tai fell off her scooter and scraped both of her knees.
Most nights Kyle and I went on night walks up to where we could see the fire burning on the mountain. One of the times Kolt and Kohen came with us and we were laughing at how hard Kolt was holding on to Kyle's ears!
Friday was tubing day on the boat!
After the first few bumps Tai just kept her nose plugged the entire time. Can't ever be too prepared to tumble off the tube! Kelly didn't even dump them though.
I got a good video of these 3 getting spilled off of the tube, but Kasen was not a fan of Kennedy landing on him.
We ended up submarining under the water though and I had to pull Kohen up from getting sucked down.
Now that Kasen has had a painful fall off, he has found his fear in the tube! He did not want to be "Kennedy's trampoline" again. lol
Grandpa Kelly showing Kasen where the stars are with his star map app. One night the kids got to stay up and play with glow sticks and light up rockets they could shoot. Until they got shot into the trees.
Saturday we spent swimming at playing at the rocks near the bridge. I was not a fan of the sketchy hike to get over there though. Luckily we only tried that once and paddle boarded over to that spot for the rest of the week.

Krista and Will took the kids to get ice cream and brought back a pint for Kohen. He was in heaven eating all that ice cream!
Then Sunday morning we went with Kyley and Jordan's family to church in Dutch John. When we got home Kelly had made Mountain Man breakfast for everyone before Krista and Will headed home.
Lizard Island!
And Grandpa got out the water weenie.
I had never been to see the Red Canyon Overlook, so that night Kyle drove us over to see the view. It is spectacular!
We also tried a new recipe, teriyaki chicken, that was super good! Good job Kyle!
Kyley is so nice and has been putting a bead braid is Tai's hair for every day that we were at Flaming Gorge. And Bentley and Kohen both have surfing dinosaur swim suits! It's the cool thing to do.
That night while we were on our walk, Kelly got to play ER doctor, because Tai fell again and scraped her knee open again. Poor girl. Most of the kids have matching scraped knees. Flaming Gorge kisses.
Tuesday we went down to play on the lake some more.
Kolt on the boat is so much easier than Kolt at the rocks.
Kohen was always yelling for someone to come pick him up on a paddle board. Mostly he just liked throwing rocks, but on Tuesday he finally figured out that he CAN swim! He was swimming all over the place after that and was SO happy! It was so cute watching him kick his little legs, do his little scoops and take forever to swim to where he wanted to go.
Wednesday was probably my favorite day! We did all the fun boat things.
Happy Pioneer Day! (Yes, we are almost always here on Pioneer Day. No, they don't do anything on the lake for it.)
Then it was time for photo recreations from 2009! My first year at Flaming Gorge with Kyle.
We were all laughing so hard on the water weenie! Kyle was bouncing off the back and all I hear is Kyley between laughs, "Kyle's gone! Kyle's gone!"
Jordan flipped us all off trying to get back on and then Hayden had a giant booger mustache!
Then Kyle let me jump off Lion King by myself! At least he rode the water weenie with me. I also cliff jumped underneath the bridge this week too.
Kasen did not want to do double knee boarding, but I convinced him to try it with me and he admitted that it was fun to go doubles!
It took me a few tries, but I even went outside of the wake! Kasen doesn't want to try doing that though.
But he did ride double with Kennedy.
On our way back to camp we said goodbye to another pair of Kyle's sunglasses lost to Flaming Gorge.
Thursday, while Kelly drove the boat back, we went to play in the water one last time. We thought it might rain for a little bit, so Tai was preparing a place under the cliff overhang for everyone to be while we waited for the storm. We never got caught in it though!
Kasen learned how to make fortune tellers and spent the week making all sorts of different ones.
Kyle got to go fishing a few times this week and caught 3 fish total. He's definitely had more success other years, but he loves to fish!
Our last night, the Days made snow cones for everyone and we played games in Kelly's trailer one last time before our trip was over.
Friday morning we packed up, played some frisbee, and then headed home.
I sure love our tailer. It holds all our kids, it holds all our food without having to pack coolers, it held all the water we needed and it held all our poop too!
Bye to Flaming Gorge and all the scraped knees of 2024!
And Thank You Kelly for another fun year playing on the boat at Flaming Gorge.
