The Hornets

Kasen and Tai are at a new school again! Tai has been at a new school every year she's gone to school, such a trooper, and this year they are at Hidden Hollow here in Eagle Mountain. So my commute will be much shorter than last year! I just found out that instead of 8-2:15, the kids will be going from 9:15-3:30 though. That is SO LATE! I'm not sure how I feel about it. I am by no means an early riser, but it is nice to have it done earlier...

I love that they suggested another hugging picture this year and that Tai wanted to wear the shirt we brought back from our cruise on her first day.
Kasen is in Mrs. Lamichhane's 4th grade A.L.L. class (complete with flexible seating) and Tai is in Mrs. Gonzalez' 2nd grade class. For first grade she had a first year teacher and for second grade she has a second year teacher.
Based on what was sent home to work on over the summer, I'm guessing Kasen is going to have a lot more homework this year! He's had 15 stem challenges, word of the day worksheets, Beast Academy, reading, typing, multiplication and division memorization and research for Lego League.
The first day of school he had to be prepared to "Teach Us" something he learned over the summer. He decided to talk about double kneeboarding. I like when he talked about the wake. "So there's this V shape thing where the waves slant down that's called the wake and you can go out and in it if you know how to steer, but be careful because you can fly off the board!"

Kasen and Tai had their first day on Thursday, but TODAY Kohen got to start preschool at Jenny Penny Preschool! He has been talking about it for forever. He's finally four and that's when I told him he'd get to go to preschool. He also rode there in his big boy booster seat too!
He gets to go twice a week, for 2.5 hours, with his best friend, Bryson. I kept trying to tell him goodbye, but he walked right in and sat down without needing a goodbye. He's so big!
Kohen got to put together an About Me bag to share with his class and when we practiced what he wanted to tell them about what he picked to put in it he said, "My goggles because I love swimming and doing bobs and jumping in the water. And I love my Paw Patrol Chase cause I love playing with him. And I love my race cars because they are Hot Wheels and I love zooming them."
Right after school we had to run to the dentist! All the kids don't have any cavities, but Kyle and I both failed...
Tai was so sweet when she got in the car though, "Kohen! Happy first day of school! You look so cool!"
This week he also gets to start his computer preschool with Waterford Upstart for 15 minutes a day. Kasen and Tai both did their program and it was so beneficial! Yay preschool!

I think the idea of homeschooling is beautiful and I admire the moms that can take that on for their children, but for me, mentally/emotionally it seems impossible and miserable. Kasen can't even get through one stem challenge without Kohen trying to smash it to smithereens. It would require so much constant supervision to get any homework done that I would be so drained and also unable to get any other chores/errands done. Kudos to all the super human homeschool mamas out there, I know quite a few of you and admire your abilities and patient ways! May I keep learning from you and good luck to us all this next year.
