Kyle and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary on the 16th!
So of course we watched our wedding video that day. During it Kasen grabbed Kyle's face and said, "You love mom and mom loves you!" You better believe it buddy boy!
We've been together 11 years now, but it's funny the secrets we still keep from each other. Like how I took out the half a tube of the gross toothpaste in our drawer, to use up before opening a new good toothpaste, and found out that Kyle and been secretly using the good toothpaste and making me use up the the gross toothpaste all by myself! And how I cannot sleep when he spoons me at night because I need to move. I have to roll over, but just lay there like a zombie instead because I love him too much to tell him to get away from me!
We celebrated our anniversary this year by going to see The Forgotten Carols. It was perfect too because at the end Micheal McLean has you link arms and all sing "We can be together forever someday." Can't wait. The Eason's and Gneitings joined us and we got Texas Roadhouse before the show. Best night!
Last week my family came over for lunch and to exchange gifts.
Kasen got some army men and a car for his magic tracks from Grammy.
Tai got some horses and an Elsa barbie that she loves. And whose shoes have since been glued to her feet. Thanks Grammy!
Afterwards they all came with me to visit Ashley's 'hot cocoa for a cause' stand :)
Tai also had her 2 year check up last week, where we found out that she weighs 28 pounds. Same as Naomi who is a year older than Tai! Tai speaks in full sentences and counts from 7 to 12 all the time, but still doesn't know how to open a door...
Other than that, all our shopping is done and all our cards and gifts have been delivered.
I'm kinda bummed that more people don't do Christmas cards any more though. I love saving all mine that I get, but this year we only got 3!
This years neighbor gift is courtesy of me accidentally buying 1 dozen snowman cookie cutters for Tai's birthday last year, instead of just one. I'm glad it worked out though cause they made perfect gifts! This year our Christmas ornament came from Ensenada, Mexico. It was one of our stops on our birthday cruise in September.
This year the Christmas book we bought was The Christmas Train! Actually it was free when we spent $50 at Deseret Book, so that worked out great too.
The Christmas lights, however, are new! First time having Christmas lights. We are like officially adulting, home owners. I thought Kyle would have picked blue to support police, but he didn't want anyone mistaking that for supporting BYU, when he is clearly a Utes fan. Haha
He even put lights all around the entire house. He's so awesome.
We set up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving and Tai has knocked it over 3 times already! and I think 4 ornaments have been smashed. But such is kids and Christmas.
This week we popped some popcorn and all snuggled up to watch Elf together. Kasen loved watching Buddy cause "he likes to eat icky things!"
And last night we went to Hazel and Hyde's house for our green, Grinch dinner night like we did last year! Although this time we watched the shorter cartoon version of the Grinch.
My kids aren't going to see Santa this year though.
Mostly cause there is no way I'm going to pay $35 to stand in line at the mall for that to happen. Just doesn't seem at all meaningful to me.
Plus I'm not a huge fan of the idea of kids thinking they can go TELL Santa what they want him to bring them. Like they deserve a list of all the things they want for Christmas and if they don't get it they won't believe. I liked growing up never writing a Christmas wish list to Santa. I want Santa to be more about believing in the spirit of Christmas and not about telling my kids to be good cause Santa is watching or convincing them that Santa himself is real. I want Christmas to be about the gift of the Savior, sharing and feeling His light and love. I want it to be about being together with family and showing our love for each other by spending quality time together. I want it to be about feeling His spirit a little bit more and being grateful for all the gifts He has given us.
Out of curiosity I did ask Kasen what he wants for Christmas. He said he wants a Christmas tree and cookies! Done!
It's a special year when kids are excited about Christmas, but not because they know they are going to get presents. I'm going to cherish this one.
