Fish Lake

We got to spend the weekend with all of my family at a cabin at Fish Lake. The Mackinaw cabin will 11 beds in it! Jake drove up from Texas and Josh drove up from Arizona to be there Sunday. Growing up, we had what we called Cousin Island at Rose Flat, above the Sand Ledges and Cousin Rock at Carcass Creek on the Boulder Mountain. So this is Cousin Rock 2.0. the kids loved climbing on it all weekend.
This is Kohen. He loves rocks and chugging milk so fast that he pukes all over his carseat, all over our bed at 4:30am and then again on the floor.
These punch bags from Ideal Dairy are a throw back to our Lake Powell days. Grandma Judy always brought these punch bags to the houseboat and they were a cousin favorite. We found out they aren't making them much longer though so we were happy to get some of the last boxes.
Bryson caught a snake that the kids were all excited to touch. I don't know how nobody got bit cause I always did when I caught snakes as a kid!
We finally made them let it go, but he didn't make a very fast get away. The kids liked watching him go into the stream though.
Then Grandma did a super fun craft with all the kids! Since we were at FISH lake she read them the Rainbow Fish book and then they each got to make their own Rainbow FISH with glittery scales and everything. Kasen played and talked with his the whole way home so I guess they were worth the work!
Back in 2005 our family went to stay in a Fish Lake cabin with the Peterson cousins and we had a chocolate fountain then. So we had another chocolate fountain this time at Fish Lake too. The kids were very patiently and anxiously waiting for Grandma to be done setting everything up and planning which treats they wanted to try dipping in it first.
Photo Recreation from Fish Lake 2005
There were lots of naps, quite a bit of fishing and some playing of games. Kohen even got to hold the littlest baby fish that Kyle caught!
And Grandma seeing a moth at the same time poor Naomi was walking by her to go to the bathroom and getting screamed at in her face!
Each of us kids was in charge of one of the meals while we were there and for my dessert I brought apple pie and ice cream. Since dad loves Nacho Libre and it was his birthday this month, I asked my friend Lindsay to make this Nacho Libre pie and the tag on the front that says "For the Orphans" is the best attention to detail ever!! Haha
Before we left on Sunday morning we took family pictures. It was the first time in years that we'd all been together at the same time. Mom was so happy.
I about beat Josh when I came downstairs after dressing my kids in their nice picture clothes and was told he was the one feeding them the cheesy chips they were chomping on!
Both on our way to Fish Lake and on our way home we stopped in Aurora to visit Great Grandma and Grandpa Forsyth. Of course they stocked each of us up with lots of their yummy garden food and Kohen was living the good life of eating fresh peaches off of the tree. We love them and their house!
On our way home from Fish Lake we barely made it to Utah County when our car lost all power. The accelerator stopped working, but we were able to safely make it to the side of the road before our AC quit, the screen went black and the car completely died. As we sat there waiting for a tow truck we talked about  all the tender mercies we still had to be grateful for. We made it to the side of the road and even though we had no AC, it wasn't too unbearably hot. Kyle was with me when it happened. After being at Fish Lake, our car didn't break down until we had both service and very easy access to help. It happened on our way home from our trip instead of on our way there. Also, the tow truck came quickly and then didn't even charge us for the tow since they work with M&K quite often. Grandpa Kelly was able to give us a ride home in his truck that was able to fit everything we had packed our car full of to take with us to Fish Lake.
Now we're holding our breath waiting to see what exactly is wrong with our car, if Nissan will honor our warranty or how much it is going to cost us.
Good thing we bought 2 brand new tires the morning we left for Fish Lake!

After our Nissan was at the repair shop for 2 weeks already this month, I guess I should have been less specific about not wanting to take Kyle's monster truck through the school drop off and pick up during the first week of school. I didn't mean JUST the first week of school... I meant ever.

Thank you Mom and Dad for a fun trip!
