Remember When...

Remember when I said that I did NOT want to drive Kyle's monster truck through the school pick up line? Well... this is EXACTLY why. We decided to go ahead and use our insurance to cover the other $1,436.00 after I pay our $500 deductible. And if there was a no claims discount before, we won't be getting that anymore either.

It happened on Monday, August 23rd at about 2:15pm on the street in front of my children's elementary school at Mountain Trails Elementary. I was very reluctantly driving my husband's monster truck through the school pick up line for the first time ever (while my Nissan was getting a new alternator). The road is ridiculously narrow and parents picking up kids park on both sides of it so that only one car can realistically drive down the road at a time. On top of that there is construction going on across the street from the school which is why my nemesis, the "Road Work Ahead" sign, was so awesomely positioned there in the first place. So during the frazzled commotion of trying to pull out, let another car pass, clear the sign next to me and not hit any children, I in fact did not clear the sign at all. Because the last thing Kyle said to me was to be careful and I am just that lucky. It scratched the entire length of my husband's new truck. Because those signs unfortunately don't glance off your car like a construction barrel, even though there are springs fashioned at the base. They are not made of plastic and they have no mercy.

That is the statement I had to write to the insurance company. And luckily my Nissan was fixed in only 2 days! So I only had to drive Kyle's truck through school pick up one time. But unfortunately one time is all it took... AND the warranty we bought with the Nissan covered the new alternator, something for the transmission and everything except a new battery! Celebrating the small victories and remembering that everyone needs to cry at least once every couple years.
