A couple months ago we all received some devastating news. Hayden has been diagnosed with ALS, a nervous system disease that weakens muscles and impacts physical function. There is no cure and the average survival time is 2-5 years. He is only 32 years old so it was a complete shock to the whole family.
The night he found out the family all gathered and Kyle was able to give him a blessing.
Since then everyone has been making plans of how we can help him and his family get through this.
A few weeks later we all got together again for family pictures! In the pouring rain.
They have a sibling trip planned and yesterday we got together again to film a home video of everyone talking about our favorite memories of Hayden, for his girls to watch someday. There was a lot of laughing and a number of very inappropriate jokes made!

It's very heartbreaking to think about but laughing about it is better than crying sometimes I guess. It's going to be a painful rollercoaster watching Hayden prepare for the worst, but hoping for the best.
But that is what families are here for.
I know that Heavenly Father has already had his hand in this. There have been miracles and will continue to be miracles all along the way.
He will not leave us comfortless.
