School and Pictures

School Pictures came back and we had parent teacher conferences this month too! Kasen and Tai are both doing great and loving school as much as ever.
Kasen joined running club at the school this year and I'm so proud of how much he improved! The first race he started with a sprint and ended up walking most of it after so we talked about just going slow and steady the whole time and by his 4th race he'd gone from a 15:22 mile to 12:09 to 11:10 to 9:01 minute mile!! I am so proud of him!

Grandma and Grandpa Forsyth even took him out for ice cream after.
The morning of school pictures, I hadn't even said anything about them yet, Tai came upstairs sobbing, "I don't know how to smile!!" She cried the entire morning and the whole way to school. I wouldn't let her out of the car until she said, "I am beautiful." Then she went to school and look at the cutest smile ever!!
She's made lots of new friends this year; Maggie, Roxie, Cassie and Jayci.
This year for Reflections the theme was Accepting Imperfection and Kasen and Tai both wanted to enter. Kasen wrote a short story again and Tai entered the 2D art category. I was actually really impressed with the idea and artist statement she came up with!

"I made this because I love rainbows and I love art.

I made a scribble into a picture because scribbles aren’t just nothing. You don’t have to throw them away because they are not perfect. They can become something beautiful too.

When a picture is just a scribble, a scribble can be turned into a picture."
We went to their Reflections awards night and Kasen received the Award of Merit and Tai received an Award of Excellence and is moving on to the council level of the competition! Go Tai!

Tai took the ALL test this month so we'll see what happens with that and Kasen auditioned for Lion King and was cast with the Vocal Ensemble! We're so excited to see the show in March! I love all the opportunities they are taking to try new things.

Kohen has been loving preschool too. He's in a phase right now of saying all the letter sounds at the beginning of a word and telling us what letter the word starts with. C is really confusing him though! He insists that cat starts with K and that C makes an S sound cause that's how you say C.
English is hard sometimes.
Every Monday he gets to take a mystery bag for the letter of the week and for F he wanted to take flies... so I killed some in our kitchen and put them in a plastic bag for him to take to school! Haha
Kohen has no fear of anyone. He talks to everyone and anyone. In a restaurant, out our moonroof, everywhere.
He draws hearts and suns now and oh my gosh they make me so happy inside! How cute are they?!
Bryson taught him about putting a plastic water bottle above his bike tire to make it sound like a dirt bike and he will not take it off.
The last warm days of the year. I will miss them.

He also did his first little Primary Program too! Grandma and Grandpa Forsyth came and luckily Grandpa was able to get Kolt to sleep while the rest of us were all up on the stand.
I just have the best kids. They are all so incredible and I love getting to cheer them on.
