First summer hike we went with Heidi to Bridal Veil Falls. I love having a hiking buddy cause I like hiking. Kolt loved standing up there throwing rocks into the water.
8 boys and one Tai
Kyle is off on Fridays now that he's switched to doing 4 10hr shifts per week so we got to go on an adventure! We drove out to hike Paul Bunyan's Woodpile and listened to a couple stories about Paul Bunyan on the way. It was about a 1.5 mile hike, but Kolt was screaming most of the time because Kyle was holding him instead of me. So they ended up stopping at the bottom of the woodpiles and I went to the top by myself. It's actually a lava rock formation that just looks like woodpiles and they're a lot bigger than I thought. Kinda fun.
We drove back through Eureka and stopped at Porter Rockwell's cabin (Kolt loved the bear rug on the bed) then we walked across the street to the Tintic Museum. There was an old man in there that showed the kids how the old miners headlamps used to work. They used little rocks of calcium carbide in the bottom, filled the top with water to react with it and make a gas that would ignite to light a flame. It made a loud POP when it ignited and then Kohen got to blow it out. Super nice of him to show us that!
It also happened to be National Donut Day too so we stopped to have donuts on our way to a game night at Hayden's house that night. Ended up playing the question game, which is Jordan's favorite!
Kohen didn't want the chocolate sprinkles one I picked for him, so he got the glazed.
Yesterday morning we woke up and went to hike to Stewart Falls with Heidi and Nicole. It's a 3.5 mile hike and I carried Kolt in a carrier. It was Wyatt's birthday, but he was not enjoying the hike. Poor Heidi was trying to carry him as much as she could, but we ended up taking 4 hours to do the hike.
Kolt was wiped on the way down and Kohen told me that he loves this hike!
Yay for summer and hiking!
