Law Enforcement and Guns

I have recently been heated to the point of writing my yearly rant about police work and also just happened to read the best quote ever too.

"Law enforcement isn't the same as protection from crime.
Enforcing the laws is what law enforcement officers do AFTER a crime is committed by a criminal.
Officers then do their job by bringing said criminal to justice. In fact, it is not law enforcement's job to protect you from criminals.
There is no possible way that an officer can and will show up before a crime is committed.
Rape, mass shooting, theft, or murder...
an officer will not and cannot save you.
Therefore, it is our job to protect ourselves from criminals.
This whole notion that taking away our weapons will make us safer is ludicrous."

We are not living in Minority Report where officers can just arrest people that they think MIGHT commit a crime. Until someone actually brakes the law (and it can be proven) they cannot be arrested.

People think that taking guns away will make us safer? That other countries that have banned guns are safer? No, because people who want to kill will kill with whatever means they can find.
That is why other countries have bombers and acid attacks or people running crowds of people over with trucks.

Every school should have a School Resource Officer on campus.
I believe schools should be able to discipline kids for their bad behavior. Too many parents blame the teachers when they should be disciplining their children.
Be a parent before a friend to your children.
Children need to learn respect. Respect for ALL life. And self-control.
There needs to be a greater importance on family and family time together, like dinner time.
Parents should be more concerned with what their kids view in the media and control it better.
Children need to be raised to be aware of others and to be less selfish and more service oriented.
Freedom doesn't mean doing whatever you want, we each still need to provide the best we have to offer for society as a whole.
Children cannot choose the right if they are never taught what the right is. Parents have the responsibility to instill good values, morals and behavior into their children so that one day they can be good people and successfully contribute to society.

And while I'm at it, did anyone see the Grey's Anatomy episode this season that threw cops under the bus again?! Infuriating.
Miranda and Ben give Tucker "The talk" because they are black. Which is stupid because EVERYONE should have this talk with their kids no matter what race you are!
"You always have to show the police where you hands are. And always say what you're doing before you do it. Be in control of your emotions. Be polite and respectful.
Don't fight back, Don't talk back. Do not make any sudden movements... And you cannot ever run away from them, no matter how afraid you are. Never run."

Teach your kids to do this even if they aren't black, because ANYONE that runs from the cops will be in trouble. ANYONE that is hiding their hands will get into trouble. ANYONE that shoots at the cops will be shot at and they are trained to shoot to kill. Race has NOTHING TO DO WITH IT.
Black Lives Matter is hurting their cause by protesting even the shootings that are completely justified.

I hear the news and other people on social media complaining about cops racial bias', but responding to calls has nothing to do with race. Asking for ID is protocol and has nothing to do with race. Any racial bias' police may have had growing can be trained out. Police respond to situations based on their training, which is based on a person's BEHAVIOR. Police are usually RESPONDING to calls that OTHER CITIZENS place. Maybe the person that called on said "suspicious activity" is racially biased, but the officers responding to a call, that they received from someone else, does not make them racially biased. Police activity follows crimes committed, and is handled the same way no matter who is committing them. When a situation does escalate it's usually not the police initiating that, it's the citizens non-compliance NO MATTER THEIR RACE. You want to be treated better? Comply.
