Back in May I saw that an eclipse would be passing over Utah so we made plans to go camping somewhere in the path of totality. But we soon found out that campgrounds don't take any reservations after September and didn't want to risk not getting a spot with the whole first come, first serve situation.
How do campgrounds close before all the hunts are even over?
Anyways, it worked out because we got to go stay at my Grandparents house in Aurora and watch the annular eclipse with my Grandpa, my parents and Kyley and Jordan's family.
I love that Grandpa still immediately recognizes my kids and calls them by name. He's always to happy to see them and give big hugs.
He told us about when he was little there was an eclipse, but they didn't have solar glasses back then. His mom broke pieces of glass and lit a fire so they could look at the eclipse through the glass against the smoke.
It is so crazy how dark and cold it gets with less Son.
We got to Aurora Friday night and played games outside while the kids played hide and seek. Kyley taught them how to play sardines, so while one of them was hiding they all had a blast getting the line of cars to honk for them!
Once my mom and dad got there they got to make s'mores with the stuff Mom Annette brought too.
After the eclipse Saturday morning, we stopped in Gunnison to visit my Grandma Judy. She broke her hip over a week ago and had to get surgery to pin it back together. Now she's in rehab until she heals enough to go back home. She seems to be doing as well as possible!
We hit lots of traffic going back home, but it was totally worth it.
